The Lanzarote parliamentarian of Coalición Canaria, Cristina Calero, presented this Wednesday a key amendment in the plenary session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, aimed at improving the services offered by the Arrecife Senior Center.

The initiative, framed in a Non-Law Proposal (PNL) promoted by the Popular Group, seeks to offer a significant boost to this center, an essential space for the elderly population of the municipality.

The initiative presented by Calero includes measures ranging from extending the center's hours, something that CC already demanded in the past legislature through parliamentarian Jesús Machín, to the creation of specific resources for people in vulnerable situations. In addition, it proposes to provide the center with continuous activities that promote healthy aging, the elimination of the digital divide, and the creation of support networks for users.

According to Cristina Calero, "our elders are the pillar of our society and it is essential that they have services that not only meet their needs, but also promote their well-being and autonomy."

"For this reason, with this amendment, we seek to offer them tools to promote their well-being, their autonomy and even their digital integration in an increasingly technological world," added the nationalist parliamentarian.

Cristina Calero also highlighted the intergenerational approach of the proposal, which seeks to generate projects that connect the elderly and young people and promote coexistence and mutual learning.

"It is essential that we do not leave our elders behind in this social and technological change. We must be by their side and accompany them in this stage of life, providing spaces where they feel valued and supported," added Calero.

All of these, insisted the CC parliamentarian, are concrete proposals aimed at improving the quality of life of the elderly and strengthening the services offered to them.
