The Cabildo of Lanzarote has informed this Thursday the state's law enforcement agencies of the existence of several recordings allegedly made illegally of users of social and health centers, alleged criminal acts of a serious nature.
The complaint has been formalized immediately after learning of the existence of several recordings supposedly taken of residents of social and health centers, material of which knowledge has been gained just after the press conference held this Thursday at the island Institution.
From the institution they point out that "given the seriousness of the events and the possible violation of fundamental rights of especially vulnerable people, the Cabildo has decided to immediately transfer the information to the competent authorities so that the appropriate proceedings can be initiated".
The Councilor for Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, has highlighted the speed with which the institution has acted: “In the interest of defending people's rights, and especially when we talk about vulnerable groups such as dependent elderly people, as soon as we became aware of the existence of these recordings, we immediately notified the authorities so that the appropriate proceedings could be initiated given the possible commission of serious crimes in the family sphere,” the councilor stated.
Lastly, Acuña added that "the Cabildo will fully collaborate with the authorities in the investigation to clarify what happened, determine the origin of the recordings and clear up any responsibilities that may arise".
