The socialist deputy and coordinator in the Canary Islands of the parliamentary groups of the Congress and Senate, María Dolores Corujo, together with a group of Canarian deputies and senators, held a working meeting with Binter to learn about the improvements in connectivity in the Canary Islands and the Peninsula.

Thus, the senator for Lanzarote, Manuel Fajardo Palarea, and the Gran Canaria senator Ramón Morales, spokesperson for Transport in said Chamber, were also present at the meeting.

The meeting was held with the president and CEO of Binter, Rodolfo Núñez, and the general coordinator of the airline, Santiago Guerra, and it highlighted the expansion of air routes, both at the island, peninsular and international level, highlighting Binter's efforts to improve the mobility of residents and visitors in the Canary Islands. Likewise, the commitment to regional connectivity was valued.

Among the strategic lines, special emphasis was placed on the merger between Binter and Air Europa, which opens opportunities for the Canarian airline to expand its operations with the Peninsula. Specifically, reference was made to the upcoming route to Madrid, which will strengthen connectivity between the Canary Islands and the Peninsula.

Likewise, María Dolores Corujo was interested in expanding said connectivity from other islands, since for the moment it has only been announced from the capital islands. "The company has confirmed to us that the airline's planning foresees said connectivity from Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and that it will be developed progressively depending on the operational implementation of the new line," Corujo confirmed.

Public Service Obligation

Likewise, the importance of the socialist measure that launched the first Canary Islands - Peninsula air route, which will have the character of a Public Service Obligation (PSO) on an experimental basis and will connect Lanzarote and Madrid, was underlined. The measure establishes a maximum price that does not imply an "excessive intervention" in the market to restore its balance without undermining air connectivity and will be executed as soon as the National Markets and Competition Commission and the European Commission issue their decision.

During the meeting, the training commitment made by Binter was also valued, on which Rodolfo Núñez conveyed to the socialist representatives the company's firm commitment to quality training through the recent inauguration of its training center. In this sense, emphasis was placed on the impact that the approval of the Vocational Training Law developed by the socialist government had on this opening, which promoted dual training and facilitates accessibility through the scholarship system to this type of training whose cost made access difficult.

Currently there are already 12 young people who access training as an Aeronautical Mechanical Technician, the most demanded modality today.
