The Local Assembly of the Canarian Coalition (CC) of San Bartolomé elected Corín Machín this Friday night as the new local secretary of the nationalist party in the municipality in an event marked by consensus and political generosity that allowed the integration of two candidacies into a single list that were initially going to compete separately. The event, led by the until now local secretary Eduardo Díaz, began with a heartfelt minute of silence in memory of Juan Antonio de la Hoz, who was a charismatic and committed member of CC San Bartolomé.

In her first words as local secretary, Corín Machín thanked everyone for their trust and stated that she is taking on this new stage “with humility and a great sense of responsibility, convinced that silent effort, daily perseverance, and closeness to the people are the pillars that make it possible to transform things.” She emphasized that her life “has always been linked to San Bartolomé, its neighborhoods, its traditions, and its people,” and that her commitment to the Canarian Coalition “does not respond to personal ambition, but to gratitude and the desire to give back to the municipality and its residents everything they have contributed to her life's journey.”

Machín emphasized that his objective is for Coalición Canaria to continue being "the voice of our people and our land" and pledged to be a "bridge, listening ear, and close presence, always working as a team so that our traditions, our identity, and our values are the foundation of a more just society with more opportunities for all." "Today does not mark the beginning of a personal project, but rather a collective project that brings together strengths, hopes, and experiences," he added, highlighting the value of the consensus candidacy that made it possible to unite different sensibilities in a single executive. TeamworkThe event, held at Casa Ajei, had a large participation of activists and supporters, in addition to the attendance of the general secretary of the Canarian Coalition in Lanzarote and senator for the Canary Islands, Pedro San Ginés; the island secretary of Organization and mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque; and the island deputy general secretary and councilor of the Cabildo, Samuel Martín, who congratulated the new local secretary and highlighted the work of the outgoing Executive as well as the importance of unity and teamwork of the organization in San Bartolomé.

Specifically, Pedro San Ginés thanked Jonatan Castellano, the new Secretary of Organization of CC in the municipality, for "understanding," by renouncing to head an alternative list, "that together we add more," emphasizing in that sense that Coalición Canaria is the political formation "with the best team unlike other parties that function as pyramidal structures."

A team that in San Bartolomé is now led by a woman—the first to head a local committee in this renewal process undertaken by Coalición Canaria, "although something tells me that she will not be the last," San Ginés stressed—"with a well-furnished mind and who treasures values and abilities to return us to the government of a difficult municipality for nationalism, among other things because it has a huge residential nucleus of people who were not born here where the state-level parties have more influence, so our great challenge is to make them understand that CC is also the best project for them to improve their lives, no matter how far away they were born," he added.

For his part, Samuel Martín -to whom Pedro San Ginés thanked for his "fundamental role" in finally reaching a consensus candidacy- stressed that after completing this renewal process, the Local Committee of San Bartolomé "will emerge more united than ever"; and considered it viable that "Corín Machin and his team can achieve the challenge of regaining a mayoralty that was once nationalist, based on being on the street, listening to the neighbors and transmitting to them that Coalición Canaria is always with them."

Also present were the local secretaries and leaders of other CC Committees of the Island, as well as different public representatives and other organic positions of the nationalist party, such as the Deputy Secretary of Organization, Abigail González; and the Deputy Secretary of Territorial Action, Municipal and Organizational Coordination, and Secretary of Organization of the Nationalist Youth, Aroa Revelo.

Balance of management During the Assembly, the until now local secretary, Eduardo Díaz, presented a report on his management in which he highlighted the progress made in these four years: the growth of the Canarian Coalition in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the maintenance of representation in Parliament, and the consolidation of a team "stronger, more cohesive, and in permanent contact with groups and neighbors." Díaz acknowledged, however, that the loss of a councilor in the City Council of San Bartolomé is "a warning that we must take very seriously," and he appealed to the need to strengthen closeness and better communicate the achievements obtained from the institutions. "Coalición Canaria in San Bartolomé is a solid project, which has grown in some areas and has the challenge of improving in others. We have the foundation, the team, and the strength to regain the trust of our neighbors," Díaz stressed, who insisted that the future of the organization "involves working with humility, with perseverance, and always alongside the people." Although he concluded his time as local secretary, Díaz will continue to be part of the new leadership, assuming the Local Deputy Secretary position.

Along with Machín and Díaz, the local Executive Committee is reinforced with profiles that bring experience and renovation, among them Jonatan Castellano, as Secretary of Organization and representative of the Committee in the island Executive Committee, and Carlos Brito, as Deputy Secretary of Organization.

With this renewal, San Bartolomé becomes the third municipality in Lanzarote to complete its assembly process, after the celebrations in Teguise and Arrecife, thus advancing in the roadmap set by Coalición Canaria in its process of organic strengthening on the island. Profile

Corín Machín Rodríguez, a resident of San Bartolomé, has built her life between the towns of Mozaga, Tao, and San Bartolomé. That childhood, shared in different places, was marked by family roots, a fundamental pillar in her life, which instilled in her values of unity, effort, and commitment to her community.

Her career has been deeply linked to culture, art, and tradition. From a young age, she was part of Yagamo, one of the oldest theater groups in the municipality, and later she was a co-founder and president of the Comik theater company, promoting creativity and local talent. She has also been linked for years to the world of Carnival, collaborating in it thanks to the family ties that brought her closer to this popular festival.

Sport also held an important place in her life, as she was a player for the Zonzamas women's handball team for eight years, an experience that strengthened her perseverance, spirit of self-improvement, and teamwork.

With a degree in Criminology, she worked for eleven years at the San Bartolomé City Council, where she performed multiple functions in different departments, especially in the Local Police and in the Collection area. She currently focuses her work on professional training for employment, teaching classes to adults who wish to dedicate themselves to teaching.

Although she always felt some curiosity about politics, she never considered joining a party. However, due to life's coincidences and moved by gratitude towards someone who supported her in a difficult time, she ended up in the Canarian Coalition. She does not regret it, convinced that, although it is not always about showy or grateful roles, someone must assume the responsibility of working behind the scenes so that things go forward. Corín Machín Rodríguez's life is that of a persevering, approachable, and committed woman who has managed to combine family roots, cultural passion, educational vocation, sports discipline, and social commitment, leaving her mark on her community.
