Coalición Canaria Lanzarote deeply regrets "the political level to which the Socialist Party has decided to descend, publishing an absolutely unacceptable video on its official social media, unbecoming of an organization that aims to present itself to the public as a serious alternative for government".
The nationalists point out that the PSOE "has opted for the crudest anti-politics: communication based on personal disqualification, finger-pointing, and ridicule, crossing all lines of institutional respect and democratic play."
"A video like this not only degrades public life, but reveals the nervousness and inability of those who spread it," the organization points out.
For CC, it is "especially striking that a party that boasts of feminism should fall precisely into labeling a municipal councilwoman a 'heartbreaker,' resorting to stereotypes we thought were overcome.""If it hurts them that a woman has a public presence, let them admit it openly. But let them **not disguise it as humor or whitewash it from an official channel**," they emphasizeEqually intolerable are the disqualifications made in the video against other political leaders. That is the level they have chosen: easy mockery instead of institutional respect and serious discussionCoalición Canaria does not share and will never share that style and emphasizes that "politics cannot become a spectacle of disrespect **nor the caricature** that some seem to desire. These behaviors should not have a place in any responsible organization, much less in the institutional networks of a party that aspires—or claims to aspire—to represent citizens."Despite this regrettable spectacle, Coalición Canaria will attend the debate 'Water in Lanzarote. Visions for a feasible future' (in which two socialist former presidents are participating), "out of respect for the public and the topic that brings us together."Nationalists assert that "water is a strategic and transcendental issue for the island's future, and we will not allow the PSOE's communicative irresponsibility to overshadow a space that, for the first time, will bring together the last four presidents of the Cabildo in Lanzarote for a cultural reflection, within the framework of the 15th Lanzarote Film Festival."Finally, CC invites the Socialist Party to rectify, withdraw the video, and acknowledge that citizens expect proposals, not attacks. "Lanzarote deserves adult, useful, and respectful politics," the party states.
