Coalición Canaria (CC) Yaiza denounces "the disastrous planning and absolute negligence of the municipal government of UPY, led by Mayor Óscar Noda, following the traffic chaos suffered this past Sunday in Uga, where residents and attendees of two events promoted by the City Council itself found themselves trapped in traffic jams and long waits in their vehicles".

The nationalist spokesperson, Emilio Machín, calls it "inconceivable" that the local government **did not foresee the collapse that would occur when the Uga Market's Christmas promotion coincided with the Yaiza Extremo Sur sporting event**, two activities that the City Council itself promoted as having a large turnout. "It is unjustifiable that two massive events are organized in the same urban center without a minimum of internal coordination and without establishing clear alternatives for traffic," he laments.

Thus, Machín denounces that "the only two access roads to Uga, both via Joaquín Rodríguez street and the sand quarry area, were closed simultaneously, leaving the town without any operational access until approximately 2 p.m., which caused the consequent traffic chaos, with an improvised access via a no-entry sign."

“How is it possible that a town is allowed to be completely isolated for long hours on a Sunday without the City Council having carried out any prior official information campaign to warn the population and without carrying out proper signage, causing drivers despair,” asks the nationalist spokesperson

Misrule and improvisation

For CC Yaiza, "the chaos generated evidences a total lack of understanding between the Agriculture and Sports departments, organizers of the events, and deems it incredible that no one in the City Council was able to foresee that, by closing each of the accesses for their respective activities, they were completely blocking the town." "It is a clear example of the misrule and permanent improvisation of UPY," Emilio Machín points out in this regard.

The Canarian nationalist party emphasizes the importance of revitalizing the municipality, "but always under criteria of planning, safety, and internal coordination, something that, as has once again been clearly demonstrated this Sunday in Uga, is conspicuous by its absence in Mayor Óscar Noda's management model based on continuous improvisations that harm residents, merchants, and visitors," Machín concludes.
