The Local Committee of the Canarian Coalition in Teguise, through its Secretary of Organization, Adrián Villalba, expresses its "strongest criticism of the hypocritical attitude of the Socialist Party (PSOE)" in relation to the closure and subsequent reopening of the Castle of Santa Bárbara.

During the months in which the emblematic castle remained closed due to repair work on the electrical infrastructure in its vicinity, "the PSOE did not hesitate to launch press releases and public statements attacking the municipal government group, despite knowing that this problem was not the direct responsibility of the Teguise City Council."

"Now, after the successful reopening of the castle, achieved thanks to the management of the government group, led by the mayor Olivia Duque, and in particular, the effort of the councilors of Culture and Roads and Works, Javier Díaz and Eugenio Robayna, respectively, the socialists seem to have taken a vow of silence," they say.

This is underlined by Adrián Villalba, who describes it as "lamentable that once the problem has been solved, the socialists, who are so proud of making a constructive opposition, are not capable of recognizing the good work done in Teguise."

For the nationalist leader, "it is outrageous that the PSOE has dedicated itself to criticizing without foundation during the closure of the Castle of Santa Bárbara, knowing that the City Council was not directly responsible for the situation."

Likewise, Villalba, highlights that "now that we have managed to reopen this symbol of our municipality and our history, thanks to the commitment and dedication of our team and the councilor Javier Díaz, the socialists remain silent as if nothing had happened; an attitude that demonstrates a political hypocrisy that does not benefit our neighbors in any way."

After that position, which the Secretary of Organization of the nationalists of Teguise considers "ridiculous and typical of children in the middle of a tantrum", the local Committee that he represents, urges the socialists of La Villa, led by Marcos Bergaz, to "abandon their destructive position and recognize the work well done for the benefit of our neighbors."

"The Castle of Santa Bárbara is a fundamental part of our history and its recovery was a priority for this government group. We will continue to promote its cultural and tourist value, offering citizens the opportunity to enjoy this unique space," Villalba asserts.

For his part, the Councilor for Culture, Javier Díaz, also local secretary of CC in Tequise, recalls that "the castle is in the process of transformation and that the objective is that, in the future, it will become the Museum of History of Teguise, reflecting the historical richness of the island and its evolution over time."
