Coalición Canaria is studying whether to denounce Podemos before the Electoral Board after a video has been published on social networks, in which the candidate of the purple formation to the Cabildo, Nona Perera, and two other people, are seen covering up an electoral poster of CC by sticking one of Podemos on top. This has been confirmed to La Voz from the party, after seeing those images in which the candidate is seen covering a poster of Luis Arráez with another of the purple formation's candidate for the Senate.
For her part, Perera has published a video on her Facebook defending her action, since she denounces the "undue hoarding" by CC of the spaces destined for the sticking of electoral posters. "It seems that they are not satisfied with the institutional advertising that we, the citizens as a whole, pay for and with the number of tripods placed throughout the island's geography," Perera points out.
In the video, Nona Perera explains that the advertising spaces are divided according to the votes obtained in the previous elections and that, according to this, Podemos is entitled to "between 25 and 26 percent of each of the panels" and that "parties such as Coalición Canaria, according to a resolution of the Electoral Board, would be entitled to 5% of the free advertising space offered by the town councils through their notice boards."
"But we see that the entire electoral space is occupied and that we, who have 25%, do not have the space that corresponds to us, because other parties have occupied it," says the Podemos candidate, who in the video appears next to a wall full of electoral posters of other parties.
Thus, she states that after having filed a complaint with the Electoral Board "and not having received a response", they have decided to put the poster of their candidate "in the space that other parties have occupied" and that, according to her, corresponds to Podemos. As for the criterion that she claims they have decided to follow, it is to put their posters "on the poster that is more damaged".
"It may be ugly, but legally it cannot have consequences"
"Aesthetically it may be ugly, but legally it cannot have consequences," said for his part the Podemos candidate for the Senate, Jorge Peñas, insisting that CC is keeping "50 or 60%" of the advertised space when "they are entitled to five percent."
For its part, CC has confirmed that it will "assess" whether to denounce Podemos, although they point out that "the priority now is the events that remain today and on Sunday", when the general elections will be held, so it has been decided to postpone this matter until the end of the campaign.
