Coalición Canaria (CC) San Bartolomé once again insisted in the last plenary session held by the Corporation on "the need for the municipality's schools to also have a cleaning service in the morning, a proposal already made last October in the form of a motion, which, as is customary with everything proposed by the Canarian nationalist formation, was rejected by the government group chaired by the socialist Isidro Pérez."
In this sense, the municipal spokesperson for CC San Bartolomé, David Rocío, considers it “incomprehensible that there is no cleaning shift in the mornings, which is when the schools are full, which means that the bathrooms are not cleaned until the afternoon, with what this implies due to their continuous use by the 1,800 boys and girls who make up the student body of San Bartolomé”.
In said plenary session, held on Thursday of last week, "CC once again urged the mayor to improve the contract for the maintenance services of the public schools of Infant and Primary Education in the municipality, which costs the municipal coffers 861,000 euros per year paid with the taxes collected by the City Council from the residents of the municipality."
The request comes “from the complaints that numerous families continue to send us about the deficiencies that occur in the cleaning service of the municipality's educational centers, insisting that the City Council remedy them as soon as possible, since it is a matter of hygiene and protecting the health of minors”, says David Rocío.
“Taking into account that the awarding company is obliged to provide the service with 12 workers, as stipulated in the contract, it is not complicated to establish a morning shift for the cleaning service that guarantees the health of the educational centers, and if it is still necessary, the City Council must modify the contract demanding an increase in the personnel that carries out this service”, concludes the spokesperson for the Canarian nationalist formation in San Bartolomé.
