The initiative, driven by the residents and business owners of the area themselves, proposed establishing a one-way traffic flow on the street and reorganizing the space to gain parking spaces

The spokesperson for the Coalición Canaria (CC) Municipal Group in the Yaiza City Council, Emilio Machín, has lamented that, despite having been unanimously approved at the beginning of the year, the motion presented by his group to improve traffic flow and parking on Valle de Fenauso street has still not been implemented.

The initiative, promoted by the residents and business owners of the area, proposed establishing a one-way traffic flow on the street and reorganizing the space to gain parking spaces, thus improving mobility and quality of life in the center of Yaiza.

"All that was needed was to plan and repaint the road, a simple action that would have resolved a historical demand of the neighborhood," Machín recalls. "However, almost a year later, absolutely nothing has been done. This shows, once again, what the priorities of this mayor are, who approves the opposition's initiatives but leaves them stored in a drawer," he adds.

The nationalist spokesperson also highlights "the contradiction" that this same week the Local Police have fined several residents for improper parking in the area, "a situation directly related to the lack of parking spaces that the motion intended to solve."

"It cannot be that the government group looks the other way while punishing the residents for a problem that has an easy solution and that the Plenary has already unanimously agreed to resolve," Machín insists.Coalición Canaria in Yaiza demands that the mayor "comply with the plenary agreements and address neighborhood demands with responsibility and coherence." "We are not asking for large investments, only willingness to manage. Yaiza deserves a government that listens and acts," concludes the councilor.
