The Canarian Coalition Group in the Tías City Council, headed by its spokesperson Amado Vizcaíno, will bring to debate in the municipal plenary session to be held this Tuesday, a motion to revitalize the public square of La Tiñosa, with the aim of restoring its former splendor and improving it as a meeting and enjoyment space for the residents.

Vizcaíno recalls that, in 1987, the square was conceived as an emblematic space with gardens, public bathrooms, changing rooms and shaded areas, elements that, with the passage of time and various interventions, have been lost, leaving the square as an empty and unattractive space. "La Tiñosa square used to be a place where families gathered, a welcoming space that today has been reduced to an uncharming esplanade, without street furniture or green areas," said the nationalist councilor.

The Canarian Coalition's proposal includes requesting the concession of the space to Puertos Canarios, an entity under whose jurisdiction it is currently located, to facilitate future urban interventions and the transformation of the square.

In addition, Amado Vizcaíno emphasizes the need to improve the integration of the square with the maritime environment, proposing the removal of the current concrete blocks that block the view of the sea, and their replacement by an underwater dike that protects the space without blocking the landscape. "It is vital that this space recovers its relationship with the sea, as it has always been, without compromising safety, but allowing people to enjoy the views that make this place unique," says Vizcaíno.

The motion also contemplates the drafting of a project for the creation of new garden areas, shaded areas, public bathrooms and a space dedicated to children's and youth dynamization activities. "We want this square to once again be a reference point in the town of La Tiñosa, a place where our families can meet, play, relax and enjoy their surroundings, recovering that welcoming and functional character that it once had," concludes Amado Vizcaíno.
