The Insular Political Council of the Canarian Coalition Lanzarote unanimously elected its candidates for the General Elections on July 23rd this Thursday, June 15th, with the conviction that the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa will only "have a future with nationalist representation in Madrid," the party reports.
Aware that it is necessary to "move away from the models established" by state-level parties, the Lanzarote candidates of CC to the Senate, Emilio Machín, and to the Congress of Deputies, Cristina Calero, who will be number two on the provincial list headed by María Fernández, are committed to bringing "the strength of the true Canarian voice" to the General Courts.
After thanking the members of the Political Council, Machín pointed out that "it is a great responsibility and an honor that the party trusts me for such an important position", and assured that "I am going to put all my enthusiasm, work, and effort so that Lanzarote and La Graciosa have a nationalist senator."
In the same vein, Cristina Calero recalled that "there are many vital issues for the islands that depend directly on the central government." "There is a lot of work to do and we have to focus our efforts on getting the largest number of nationalist representatives", she adds. "Only then will we be heard, respected, and our demands met."
For his part, in the absence of the island secretary, Migdalia Machín, the organization secretary of CC Lanzarote, Echedey Eugenio, pointed out that, although these are difficult elections, "we are going out to win and we are going to run a strong campaign, with positive messages, talking about how important it is for Lanzarote and La Graciosa to have representatives who respond solely to the interests of those who live on our two islands."
The Insular Political Council also voted on the names of those who will accompany Emilio Machín as alternates to the Senate: Bruno Ramírez and Dayana Pérez, as well as José Montelongo, who is the proposal of the Socialist Grouping for Lanzarote to accompany María Fernández and Cristina Calero on the list to the Congress of Deputies for the constituency of Las Palmas.
