The candidate of the Canarian Coalition to the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, urges the island's president to "put aside empty speeches and apply the measures and actions necessary so that the pockets of residents in Lanzarote and La Graciosa are not affected, as they are being, with the increase in the shopping basket".

“What is the point of going to the media saying that the Cabildo is especially sensitive to people and groups in vulnerable situations or of boasting about a widespread environment of economic recovery and good employment data when real measures are not applied?”, asks Betancort, who recalls that "the basket of basic products in Lanzarote is 30% more expensive due to the increase in transport costs, energy, raw materials and even the costs involved in adapting supermarkets to environmental regulations for product packaging".

“We have the most expensive shopping basket in the entire province. I don't know who they are trying to fool; the PSOE is dedicated to talking about the need to provide assistance to families who cannot afford to pay rent or mortgages, but does not provide solutions, as CC has done.”

In this way, the nationalist candidate states that "while CC has proposed a reduction of the IGIC from 7% to 5% to mitigate the rise in prices in Canarian families, the PSOE is dedicated to launching false triumphalist messages".

“The President of the Government of the Canary Islands and the President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote do so when they talk about economic recovery and good employment data, while covering up the reality experienced by many families in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, who cannot make ends meet. A reality that says that our islands are not doing well, that social aid is neither sufficient nor reaches those who need it”, he affirms.

Oswaldo Betancort insists that "faced with the inaction of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Government of the Canary Islands, the Canarian Coalition has proposed everything from specific tax cuts to the specific elimination of the Canarian tax on fuels, which would allow savings of 26 cents per liter, to an administrative improvement and simplification that would allow, among other things, better management of Next Generation funds or an improvement in public education".

“The free buses or the 60% IRPF discount for the people of La Palma obtained by CC are just two examples”, insists the CC candidate, who urges the island's president to take good note of the measures proposed by the nationalists and transfer to her partner in the Government of the Canary Islands the need to offer facts to the population and not just words.

“As long as we have an island and Canarian government subjected to the interests of the PSOE in Madrid, there is little hope for our islands”, concludes Betancort.
