The island secretary of Coalición Canaria Lanzarote, Migdalia Machín, considers "a very serious error and an absolute contempt of the Government of the Canary Islands towards the island of Lanzarote, to have put out to tender the project of a new outer ring road through Playa Honda, completely discarding the burying of the LZ-2 as it passes through said locality, despite the fact that, according to previous studies, it is the best option from an environmental point of view."

That is why the nationalist leader demands that this issue, "be brought to debate within the Council of the Biosphere Reserve, where all sectors of society are widely represented", and trusts that “Podemos will not give in, as it did with the previous Minister of the Environment, Elena Solís, when the president of the Cabildo dismissed her, among other reasons, for trying to debate a work so strategic for transport and mobility on the island.”

"And no one seems to understand why the Executive of Ángel Víctor Torres, having as it has now a study with seven alternatives, has opted for the one that is environmentally more aggressive, only because it is more economical, completely ignoring the technical recommendations that consider the alternative of burial viable, whose economic cost has not been an impediment in other islands", they point out from CC.

“The burying is an issue that must be raised for debate in the Council of the Biosphere Reserve, using the regulated procedure and the current Minister of the Environment must ensure that this is the case”, underlines Machín who assures that “no matter how much the project of the new ring road has been tendered, it would not be executed until the next term, like each and every one of the promises that have been made to us on roads for the island of Lanzarote, so there is room to correct mistakes.”

Machín adds that while in other islands pharaonic works are undertaken, in Lanzarote there are only unfulfilled promises after years of talking about multi-million dollar investments in roads for the island, which also do not arrive.

“The contempt of the Government of the Canary Islands for Lanzarote is as serious as the applause of the Government of María Dolores Corujo for this contempt”, asserts Migdalia Machín.
