CC assures that Public Function has confirmed "improper charges" of Sosa for more than 100,000 euros

"The report from the Government of the Canary Islands makes it very clear that the president has been seriously lying for months, assuring that there is no irregularity in Sosa's remuneration by the Canary Islands Health Service," he says

The Coalition Canaria-PNC group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote states that Public Function has confirmed "improper charges of Juan Manuel Sosa for more than 100,000 euros since he became a defector", that is, since he left CC and joined the government group of the first island institution.

In a statement, the nationalists state that "despite the fact that the Presidency has maintained that the labor situation and the payment of the remuneration of councilor Juan Manuel Sosa Rodríguez did not present any irregularity, adding in an official response that it was not the responsibility of the corporation that presides to clarify who pays him and why", the Human Resources Area of the institution requested “clarification from Public Function about which is the administration that should pay Juan Manuel Sosa, whether the Government of the Canary Islands or the Cabildo of Lanzarote”.

In response to said request, they assure that the General Directorate of Public Function of the Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands has responded with a report, under which “extremely serious facts are revealed that reveal the governmental conspiracy and the great deception of the president to the plenary session of the corporation and to all citizens, denigrating the institution and the very exercise of politics to aberrant limits".

Specifically, CC affirms that "the aforementioned report considers that the competent administration to proceed with the payment of the remuneration of the interested person as island councilor with special delegation of Health and Health Planning, must be the Island Council of Lanzarote from December 30, 2019”. "And therefore, not the Government of the Canary Islands as has been happening since then for reasons that we do not know, even if he continues to charge more than a year and a half
after resigning from the spokesperson and losing that right”", they add from the nationalist ranks.

"In short, the defector councilor Juan Manuel Sosa has received more than 100,000 euros of public money improperly since December 30, 2019, the date on which he defected to the government where the president appointed him Minister of Health of the Cabildo of Lanzarote", they point out

In this regard, CC says it fears that "the president will further denigrate the Cabildo of Lanzarote, pretending that it is the institution that she presides over who, in view of said report, now releases the councilor who shields her in her government, knowing that he is a defector councilor who should be in the Group of Non-Attached Councilors and, therefore, without the right to any release and who has been defrauding the public health of the Canary Islands more than 100,000 euros in improper charges since December 2019".

In any case, and without prejudice to the actions of the president of the Cabildo, the nationalists state that "the Public Function report does not explain the reasons why the autonomous executive has been paying the defector councilor since December 2019 - we assume until today - if, as specified in it, it would correspond in any case to the Cabildo of Lanzarote since then".

"Nor does it clarify whether the reimbursement file for the more than 100,000 euros paid and therefore improperly collected by Councilor Sosa has been initiated, of whom we also do not know at this time if he complied with his obligation to inform the Canary Islands Health Service", adds CC.

Doubts that the report "leaves in the air"

Due "to the seriousness of the facts", from the nationalist formation they demand the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Dolores Corujo, and the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, "to clarify the numerous doubts that the aforementioned report of the General Directorate of Public Function leaves in the air"

Specifically, they ask "what explanation does the president of the Cabildo have after having maintained for months that everything was correct, and that there was no irregularity in the collection of the payroll of the defector that she incorporated into her government to shield her". Likewise, they question whether "the councilor and affected official communicated to Health the loss of his status as spokesperson, in the same way that he communicated his appointment when in June 2019 he exercised his right to continue charging from the Canary Islands Health Service", pointing out that "if not, we would be facing a very clear embezzlement of public funds".

"Why has the Ministry of Health of the government of Ángel Víctor Torres allowed the councilor to continue in a situation of special services as of December 2019, if since then he lost that right? Why and under what legal provision has the Canary Islands Health Service continued to pay Juan Manuel Sosa's payroll, as of December 2019?", are other questions that CC launches.

Likewise, the nationalists want to know if "the Ministry of Health has initiated the pertinent reimbursement file for improper charges of the official Juan Manuel Sosa Rodríguez, since December 2019" and if "Juan Manuel Sosa is still charging from Public Health today".

Finally, from CC they ask if "the facts have any relation with the resignation of the general director of Public Function who signs the report"

"In any case, from Coalición Canaria-PNC we will be attentive to the events and we will reserve as many actions as are in our power so that responsibilities are cleared", they conclude from the party.
