CC assumes the break in Haría after a month of silence: "We had a glimmer of hope that the PMH was a serious party"

Accuses José Torres Stinga's Platform of using an "excuse" to blow up the pact and recalls that Evelia García is mayor "thanks to the votes of CC"

Coalition Canaria has officially ended the pact in Haría, a month after its partner left them without government areas, after taking the baton. "We had a glimmer of hope that the PMH was a serious party," said CC councilor and former mayor of the municipality, Chaxiraxi Niz, to justify the silence they have maintained during the last weeks.

The island secretary of the party, Migdalia Machín, agreed with the same explanation, pointing out that they had been "four weeks waiting for a formal meeting" with the president of the Haría Municipal Platform, José Torres Stinga, to try to redirect the situation. That meeting finally took place last Thursday, and Machín stated that they made him "proposals" to maintain the pact, but without success. "He called me on Friday and told me no, that everything remained the same and that he was not going to delegate the areas to CC," he said.

At the press conference, in which the local secretary of the nationalist formation in Haría, Víctor Robayna, and the island secretary of Communication, Echedey Eugenio, also appeared, they accused their now former government partner of using an "excuse" to blow up the pact.

That excuse was the absence of a CC councilor, Armando Bonilla, in the Plenary in which Evelia García was elected as the new mayor. In this regard, Migdalia Machín has defended that it was not a "rebellion", but a "difficulty" that the councilor had in attending that session.

"It has not been easy for the PMH to find an excuse to leave us out of this government group. It is easy to focus on a colleague or on indiscipline, but we put order in the house. We are not going to allow the PMH to come and order us what we have to do," added Víctor Robayna, who expressed his "maximum support" to Bonilla.

"She has the Mayor's Office thanks to CC"

"It is undeniable that the PMH has the Mayor's Office thanks to CC, that we have complied with the agreement and that we have been above any individualism," defended the island secretary of CC at the press conference, in which they accused Torres Stinga of "not keeping his word" or what they had signed.

For his part, Víctor Robayna has apologized "to the neighbors for this media circus", which comes a year and nine months after CC decided to break the pact with the PSOE, presenting a motion of censure together with the PMH.

In this regard, Migdalia Machín has admitted that it was not "an easy agreement, due to circumstances that had happened from behind." She was referring to the relationship with José Torres Stinga, who founded the PMH after his abrupt departure from CC. As head of the list of that party, Torres should have occupied the Mayor's Office after the period that corresponded to CC, but the condition of the nationalists was to "agree" on that point and that the baton be taken by the number two.

Before that relief occurred, both CC and the PMH had already entered a stage of public silence, in which it became evident that there were differences between both formations. Finally, José Torres presented his resignation to take the baton and Evelia García became mayor on July 12, with the votes of the CC councilors present, but then did not delegate the government areas to her partners.

"What cannot be done is to arrive at a taking of possession and change the agreement, and change it at will and without sense," Robayna reproached, who has affirmed that now they will continue working "for the neighbors" from the opposition.
