The Deputy Mayor of Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio, presented this Tuesday to the parish priest of the Church of San Ginés, Juan Carlos Medina, with the 1,191.10 euros collected through the coins thrown by visitors to the Arrecife Municipal Nativity Scene during the past Christmas season, specifically into the water that symbolized the strip of sea that separates Lanzarote from La Graciosa, called El Río.

The author of the Nativity Scene, Juan José Torres ‘Tejure’, was also at the ceremony of handing over the coins that will be donated in turn by the Church to Cáritas Parroquial de Arrecife, which will allocate the money to social purposes.

The design of the Nativity Scene represented an island that could be fully explored, with elements that evoke the north, windward, beaches, black sand, stones and the sea.
