The candidate for the Presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote for Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC), Yoné Caraballo, has wanted to publicly thank the numerous expressions of support, affection, and trust he has received during the first week since announcing his candidacy.
Caraballo has assured that the messages received "demonstrate that there is enormous enthusiasm for opening a new chapter for Lanzarote, with new faces, new ways of doing politics, and a project that once again speaks directly to the people of Lanzarote."
"During these days I have spoken with people from all corners of the island. I have received messages from neighbors, professionals, young people, elderly people, people linked to the social movement, and also from those who have never participated in politics or voters from both the left and the right. Everyone agrees that Lanzarote needs a change and that the time has come to reclaim the island for its people," he stated.
The Canarian candidate has pointed out that his objective is to build a broad, open, and participatory project that represents the social majority of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. "I do not want to build a project solely of political parties. I want an island project in which social groups, unions, neighborhood, cultural, sports, and environmental associations, the economic fabric, and also all those people who are disillusioned with politics but deeply concerned about the present and future of Lanzarote have a voice."
In this regard, Caraballo has argued that the island needs to regain trust in public institutions through a way of governing based on closeness and with a language that everyone understands, of trust and love for the land.
"I want this to be a shared candidacy, built from the ground up and with the participation of those who live and feel Lanzarote every day. The transformation that our island needs will only be possible if we are capable of uniting sensibilities, listening more, and governing with the interest of the social majority in mind and not the usual few."
Finally, Caraballo reiterated his gratitude for the support received and assured that he will continue touring the island to keep listening to the people and building a candidacy that aspires to represent the vast majority of the people of Lanzarote.
"This path has just begun, but the response this first week confirms that there is hope, that there is a desire for change, and that many of us believe that we still have time to recover our island," emphasizes Yoné Caraballo.
