The Canary Islands Government has granted 975,455 euros to Family Meeting Points (PEF) in the second half of 2025, intended to support the functioning of the Administration of Justice and the protection of vulnerable individuals. Among these, a specific program to implement a gender perspective in the Family Meeting Point of Lanzarote.
According to the Minister of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Nieves Lady Barreto, in the Governing Council held last Monday, during the year 2025 the amount has risen to 1,572,110 euros, including the funds from the State Pact against Gender Violence in the budget of the Vice-Ministry of Justice and Security
The grants to the beneficiary entities have enabled the operation of the Family Meeting Points on the islands of La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro, and in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, as well as the program *Parenting Coordination and Assistance for Family Meetings* from the Canary Islands Family Guidance Center.
In addition, grants have been awarded for the cost of specific Gender Violence programs in Gran Canaria, Tenerife North; Santa Cruz de Tenerife; Fuerteventura; El Hierro, La Gomera, and at the Viogensur 2025 Family Meeting Point
Specialized Social Resources
Family Meeting Points are specialized social resources that offer a neutral and suitable space where, with the support of a multidisciplinary technical team, the relationship between children and adolescents and their parents and other family members is facilitated in situations of family conflict or when the relationship is interrupted or difficult.
These resources are intended to fulfill an essential function in the assistance and protection of minors, acting as spaces for family and psychosocial intervention designed to ensure that children and adolescents live and develop in a safe, stable, and violence-free environment.
The existence of these spaces is particularly necessary in cases of family crisis and conflict, or when a potential risk situation for minors is observed that advises professional intervention
Family meeting points handle referrals from both judicial bodies and administrative bodies responsible for the guardianship, protection, and assistance of minors, whether they are the Government of the Canary Islands, Island Councils, or Municipal Administrations.
They also pay particular attention to those situations in which a case of gender-based violence arises and for which family meeting points have a specific protocol of action, which especially addresses the victim status of minors and their mothers, directing their actions towards their assistance and recovery.
Family meeting points are also considered of public interest because they favor the better functioning of the Administration of Justice by constituting an instrument for the execution of judicial measures issued by the Courts regarding the exercise of the right of visitation, also avoiding situations that could lead to gender-based violence.
