The company in charge of the integral water cycle of Lanzarote, Canal Gestión Lanzarote, has put out to tender for more than half a million euros the contracting of the supply of fuel to supply its fleet of vehicles and machinery.
This call for tenders, published just a few days ago in the Official Gazette of Las Palmas, comes amid the battle with the Lanzarote Water Consortium, which announced in April that it was going to "hijack" the service from the subsidiary of Canal Isabel II from Madrid, based on a report that indicated "a serious disturbance" and losses of more than 55% in the network.
The announcement of this fourth contract comes after Canal Gestión put out, just two days after the start of the procedure to intervene the service was announced, another tender for more than 35 million euros for three more contracts: the supply of energy for its facilities, the maintenance of gardens, and the cleaning of different spaces.
While Canal Gestión continues to tender contracts, the Water Consortium has based its decision on "frequent interruptions" in the supply or on the "maximum precariousness" in which the desalination plants are found, as well as on problems with water purification on the island, among other reasons.
This new contract is endowed with 591,500 euros to supply fuel for five years for its fleet of vehicles and the rest of the company's machinery on the island.
Interested companies will have until next June 8, at 2:00 p.m., to submit their application to the Canal Gestión Contracting body at the Las Caletas headquarters.
