Call for aid for victims of gender violence in Lanzarote now open

The Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa opens the call for individual economic aid for 2026 aimed at women victims of gender-based violence with the objective of offering a rapid response in situations of social emergency and contributing to their protection, autonomy, and recovery.

The Minister of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, points out that "this aid represents an essential resource to provide an effective response to those women who are going through a situation of special vulnerability due to gender-based violence." Furthermore, he highlights the corporation's commitment so that "no woman feels alone when she needs a support network to regain her autonomy and her life project."

The granting of this aid, which has an economic allocation of 70,000 euros from the Corporation's own funds and an additional 31,729.75 euros from the Canary Social Emergency Fund, will be carried out in order of presentation, resolving in favor of those individuals who meet the requirements established in the regulatory bases, until the available credit is exhausted.

As published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas, the subsidies may be granted directly, by payment to the beneficiary herself or her representative, or indirectly, by making the payment to the professional, entity, or provider that provides the service to whom the subsidy is granted.

The deadline for submitting applications will remain open until December 1, 2026 and the documentation may be registered at the Social Welfare Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, in the General Registry of the Corporation, or through any of the means provided for in current regulations. 

The concession resolutions will be issued before December 15, 2026, and their payment will be made by bank transfer to the account designated by the beneficiary or, when appropriate, directly to the professional or provider of the subsidized service. The island institution recalls that the purpose of this aid is to immediately address situations of special vulnerability derived from gender-based violence, facilitating access to resources and services that allow improving the living conditions of the affected women and reinforcing their recovery process.
