The counselor of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, Ángel Vázquez, has criticized the “political use” that the PSOE is making regarding the updating of the Entity's Statutes. In this regard, he has pointed out that “the socialists rely on an erroneous interpretation of the text to generate confusion and alarm among the workers of the Entity, a strategy that only contributes to entangling public life”.

In his opinion, “this artificial controversy evidences a way of doing politics that prioritizes noise over institutional responsibility.” Vázquez has defended the need to “address any discrepancy with rigor, transparency, and respect for the staff.”

Ángel Vázquez has stressed that “the new Statutes are the result of a technical process elaborated by personnel of the Entity, which has counted on the external advice of jurists and specialized companies”. “It is a modern, coherent text and, above all, aligned with the current legal framework, which reinforces a public management model far from any privatization, guarantees legal certainty and offers the adequate administrative support to respond to the new challenges posed by the tourism industry”.

Finally, Vázquez has explained that the point under debate in the Statutes included “the universal succession to the Cabildo de Lanzarote”, although he has announced that the text “will incorporate a specific mention to clarify, expressly and unequivocally, that workers are included in the obligations that will be transferred to the First Island Institution in case of the Entity's extinction”.
