The subsidy of 1.6 million euros to the Consorcio de Seguridad y Emergencias de Lanzarote will serve to execute two important projects for the security body: the Tías fire station and the La Graciosa heliport. This measure was approved in this Friday's Ordinary Plenary Session.

Both interventions, which are already underway and which will be completed, in principle, in the first half of the year, will be co-financed with the Fondo de Desarrollo de Canarias (FDCAN), managed by the area of Planning and Project Coordination led by vice president María Jesús Tovar.

The president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, assured that with this subsidy “the construction of two fundamental and priority spaces for the security of both municipalities is guaranteed”. “We were clear that the investment for the Security and Emergency Consortium was a priority, and we have demonstrated this by not only expanding the vehicle fleet and improving its infrastructure, but also expanding the firefighter staff”, asserted the president.

For her part, the vice-president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, María Jesús Tovar, asserted that from the FDCAN “investment continues in the main demands of the citizenry”. “Thanks to these funds, we will have a before and after in the treatment of security on these islands, which will be linked to the excellent work of the staff of the Security and Emergency Consortium itself”, she added.

Finally, the president of the autonomous security body, Francisco J. Aparicio, thanked the Cabildo de Lanzarote “for the economic support to execute these important projects.” “Coordination and collaboration are fundamental to continue improving our infrastructures and expanding our material and human resources in Lanzarote and La Graciosa,” he pointed out.
