The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, held a working meeting this Tuesday morning with the director of the company JFT Comunicación, Juan Ramón Fuentes, in which a preliminary agreement was reached for the removal of the advertising totem located in the vicinity of the César Manrique–Lanzarote Airport, a commitment that will be materialized through an agreement with the island Corporation.
During the meeting, the head of the company, which holds the advertising concession for the Canary Islands airports, expressed his full willingness to proceed with the removal of the advertising monolith, responding to the request made by the president and showing sensitivity towards the protection of Lanzarote's image.
Oswaldo Betancort highly valued the agreement reached, stating that "with the removal of this physical element, a way of understanding Lanzarote is protected, of caring for our main gateway and of being consistent with our island model and the legacy of César Manrique".
Likewise, the president emphasized that this action responds "to the unanimous feeling of the Corporation and Lanzarote society, which has clearly called for respect for the landscape, the environment, and the image we project externally."
This agreement comes after the unanimous approval, last June, of a motion by the Plenary Session of the Cabildo urging AENA to proceed with the removal of this advertising element, considering it incompatible with the island's landscape model and visual identity.
