The Teguise City Council has awarded the execution of the works contained in the 'Project of Adaptation and installations in the Tahíche sports center' for an amount of "930,444 euros" (IGIC included). The duration of the same will be "six months". This investment is financed by the Cabildo de Lanzarote through the Municipal Cooperation Plan 2021-Teguise.
The initiative is due to the need for "adaptation and legalization" of the electrical installation, "fire protection, plumbing and sanitation" of this sports facility that is used daily by "hundreds of users", says the City Council.
“With this step we have already completed the process to respond to one of the most important demands of Tahíche, because it involves setting up one of the sports and social lungs of this town”, says the Councilor for Works of the Teguise City Council, Eugenio Robayna, who has had "words of gratitude" for the Councilor for Contracting, Javier Díaz, “because he has made a daily follow-up of the process to fulfill one of our electoral promises.”
“With this step we have already completed the process to respond to one of the most important demands of Tahíche"
In the words of the Teguise councilor, “among other actions, low-consumption lighting will be implemented, the turrets of the soccer field will be changed and the accessibility of the entire sports space will be improved.” It also includes the "renovation of bathrooms and changing rooms".
For her part, the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, has also thanked the "commitment of the technicians" when it comes to “prioritizing this specification that will allow us to have adapted and accessible facilities.”
These facilities are the headquarters for training and competition of football, basketball, handball, bowling, futsal, volleyball and pigeon racing clubs. Inelcon is the company that will carry out the work.
Upcoming works
On the other hand, the Councilor for Works, Eugenio Robayna recalls “that the next awards will be those related to the change of lighting of the La Villa soccer field, for an amount of 120,000 euros, and those corresponding to the new electrical installations of the sports court and wrestling field of La Graciosa for 80,000 euros”.
“The good harmony that we now have with the Cabildo de Lanzarote allows us to put the fifth gear in the awarding of cooperation projects that will mean a qualitative advance in our sports facilities”, explains Robayna.
