The Tías City Council has obtained a subsidy of 100,000 euros to execute, from next June 1st to February 28th, 2027, the project called Conecta Tías Red Viva II, which is born to combat unwanted loneliness, the digital divide, and disinformation.
The council has once again obtained this financial support from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families of the Government of the Canary Islands, which will allow us to continue advancing in a new edition of the program, which not only aims to help those with an economic need, but also to weave a network where any neighbor, regardless of their situation, feels part of a collective mechanism.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, and the deputy mayor and councilor for Social Welfare and Family, Nicolás Saavedra, recall that in previous editions the actions have focused on networking and teamwork, forming strategic alliances for the deinstitutionalization and "dehumanization" of citizenship.
Nicolás Saavedra specifies that “a network of support and social integration has been achieved with community services that, due to sociological causes and the lack of street presence of the associations themselves, do not end up reaching broad layers of society”.
For all of this, and to continue moving forward, in this new edition it is intended to open up and bring the social fabric closer to the citizenry, being respectful of the right to self-organization of each collective and to continue with the coordination work, improving the latter.
To achieve this, associative work on the street is strengthened, increasing the ratios of beneficiaries of the resources offered as preventive measures for social problems. It is, in summary, about acting by creating and strengthening a network of community social protection and integration that is self-managed by the citizenry.
For the development of the project the hiring is foreseen, through public job offer, of four professionals: an educator, two physical-sports animation technicians (TAFAD) and a sociocultural animator (TASCT).
