The Cabildo of Lanzarote informs that, starting this Wednesday, November 19, the road connecting Puerto Calero with Puerto del Carmen will remain closed to traffic for approximately three weeks due to comprehensive resurfacing and road surface improvement work that will be carried out on this route.
During this period, circulation will be completely restricted, and users are advised to use the alternative route through Mácher, where traffic will remain normal
This action will allow for the complete renewal of the pavement on a busy road, improving safety, comfort, and reducing future maintenance needs.
The project, awarded for an amount close to 700,000 euros, is financed with FDCAN funds, managed by the Planning and Projects Area, the department headed by Vice President María Jesús Tovar, who is responsible for driving and coordinating these improvement actions on the island's road network.
"This closure is a necessary temporary measure to guarantee quality work. We are aware of the disruption it may cause, but this action will allow us to have a completely renovated and much safer road," assures the Minister of Public Works, Jacobo Medina."We continue to **modernize the island's road network**, intervening in those roads that had years of deterioration. This investment represents a significant leap in the quality of mobility in the south of the island," Medina added"We thank residents, businesses, and drivers for their patience and cooperation during these three weeks. We are working to minimize disruptions and complete the work as quickly as possible," the councilor concluded
