Astrid Pérez participated this Saturday in the meeting 2 Years of Governments in Freedom in which eight first mayors of the Popular Party from different cities in Spain have shared their model and their management proposals.

The meeting, held in Cartagena, was attended by mayors of cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants representing the more than 2,000 popular councilors from all over the country.

According to the president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote and mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, "the common denominator of these last two years of government has undoubtedly been the management of the pandemic where the town halls have been the only door that citizens have been able to call. Town halls that, in the case of the Canary Islands, have had to sustain the consequences of the pandemic with their own resources.”

“Despite this, we now find that the Government does not want the mayors to manage the aid that comes from Europe or a compensatory Covid fund for everything we have had to do outside of our competences,” laments Astrid Pérez.

The Popular conclave observed a minute of silence for the murder of the little girls Anna and Olivia. The president of the Popular Party, Pablo Casado, showed his support and condolences to the mother of the little girls for “something terrible that cannot be imagined” and for demonstrating her “courage”.
