The island president of the PP, Ástrid Pérez, is now the new mayor of Arrecife. The pact sealed in the capital between the popular party, the PSOE, Nueva Canarias and Somos Lanzarote has remained as planned and Coalición Canaria has been left alone voting for its candidate, Echedey Eugenio. Thus, Pérez has added 13 votes, compared to the eight of CC that the nationalist has gathered.
In total, the list headed by Eugenio obtained nine councilors in the past elections, but María Teresa Lorenzo has not attended the Plenary of constitution due to a health problem, according to her colleagues.
Regarding the alliance that has united PSOE, PP, NC and Somos, in recent days its continuity was questioned due to the turn in the negotiations of the regional pact for the Canarian Government. However, the possible alliance between the PP and CC -which had offered Asier Antona the presidency of the Canary Islands and in return demanded that the popular party reverse the agreements they had sealed with the PSOE on several islands- stalled this Friday.
