The latest analyses carried out by Public Health at El Reducto beach have been favorable, so they rule out that there is currently fecal contamination on the beach which remains closed to swimming since last July 28. This has been confirmed to La Voz by sources from the Arrecife City Council.
Despite this, the City Council will not reopen it for swimming on this beach yet out of "prudence" and will await the results of the analyses of the samples that were taken this Tuesday to make the decision. These results will be ready this Wednesday, the day on which the City Council will decide whether to reopen the beach or not.
Not only Public Health has carried out the water analyses, but the Water Consortium has also done so at the request of the Arrecife City Council.
Water Consortium operators have been working all morning this Tuesday on Guenia street, next to El Reducto, checking the sewage system "to rule out leaks or cracks and that the origin is at Punta del Camello".
In addition, a follow-up of the sanitation pumping system is also being carried out because "it is usually broken".
The most visited beach in the capital of Lanzarote already had a ban on swimming in its waters for almost six months due to contamination between the end of 2025 and the beginning of this year.
