The Technical Office of the Arrecife City Council has this Friday granted the favorable technical report for the continuation of the Cruz Blanca project, an initiative that will be brought to the Local Government Board next Wednesday, October 29, for its final approval.
The project, which aims to rehabilitate and transform an area of the city that had been forgotten for years, has an ambitious plan that redefines the use of the old religious equipment into a parish welfare center managed by Cáritas Diócesis de Canarias.
Among the main features of the project, a two-story building and basement stand out, with an area expanded to 5,781 square meters and a height reduced to 6.33 meters, technical aspects that comply with current urban planning regulations and that have been included in the technical reports issued.
The approval of the favorable report is the result of joint work between the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the Diocese of the Canary Islands, and the Municipal Technical Office.
The Councillor for Urban Planning, Maciot Cabrera, has emphasized the technical rigor and institutional collaboration, stating that "the technical approval of this work validates the exhaustive compliance with all the urban regulations and standards necessary for its execution. We have worked in coordination with all the administrations involved so that this project complies with the legal and technical requirements, and allows it to be a tangible reality."
For her part, the Councilor for Social Welfare, Maite Corujo, highlighted the social and urban importance of this intervention, and stressed that "this project is a commitment from Arrecife to its people, especially those who need the most support. After years of waiting, thanks to the joint effort, the Cruz Blanca will become a comprehensive care center that complements our network of social services, recovering a space that was abandoned and revitalizing an entire neighborhood.”
Next week, the Local Government Board will have on its agenda the proposal to formalize the building permit with all the legal and technical guarantees, a key step to begin the final phase of this urban intervention that renews a vital space for Arrecife.
