Arrecife seals a plot of land after residents' complaints about the presence of garbage and rats

The Arrecife City Council announced this Tuesday the sealing of the plot located in the La Vega neighborhood, situated between Norte street and Brasilia street, which had been a focus of unhealthiness for residents and merchants in the area due to the presence of a large amount of garbage and rats.

The mayor of the capital, Yonathan de León, reported on his social networks that this space has been sealed with earth after the City Council asked the owner of the plot to fence it, clean it, and seal it.

Following the municipal requests made to the owner to fulfill their obligation to maintain the land in adequate conditions of safety and healthiness, they have finally proceeded with the filling and sealing of the plot.

The land, with an approximate depth of three meters, progressively became a point of accumulation of abandoned waste and belongings, generating a focus of dirt that affected both the image of the surroundings and the sanitary conditions of the area. Among the main concerns raised by residents was the proliferation of rats, which motivated the need for an urgent deratization intervention.

"The residents of this area of the La Vega neighborhood will live, from now on, without the drawbacks of having their homes next to this plot that was an unhealthy focus and caused disturbances. For a long time, this excavation had become a dump due to the lack of civility of a few, and small fires originated inside it," commented Yonathan de León on social networks.
