The Arrecife City Council has received this December a grant of 1.5 million euros for the construction of the Zonzamas - Puerto Naos green corridor.

“This is great news for Arrecife to become an increasingly greener city, as we have worked in the last three years”, says the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez.

Now, the Arrecife City Council will work to ensure that this grant of 1.5 million euros "becomes a great project that will be drafted shortly and that will allow the green corridor to become a reality".

The future actions will include the execution of a green corridor between the urban sector where the Integrated Vocational Training Center (CIGP) Zonzamas is located, to the urban sector of Puerto Naos, more specifically to the area where the Marine Fisheries Vocational Training Institute of Lanzarote is located. "It will be used as a connecting link between both educational centers, the streets of the historic neighborhood and its surroundings, expanding the garden areas that will further beautify the capital", they explain from the City Council.

"The objective of these actions is the creation of low emission zones, improvement of the environmental quality of public spaces, prioritizing pedestrian circulation, and creating and improving green areas for recreation and stay, as well as the installation of accessible urban furniture", they indicate from the Consistory.

“I am very happy that this amount can be invested in the city, and we hope that it can be executed as soon as possible so that the green corridor becomes a reality as soon as possible”, says the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Armando Santana, celebrating the approval of this measure that was taken to the Government of Spain.

This entire project "has the clear objective that Arrecife, gradually, becomes a friendlier, greener city with more low emission zones", they conclude from the City Council.
