The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León Machín, and the Councilor for Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, presented this Thursday morning at the Municipal Archive, the program of events for the Christmas holidays 2023-2024; an extensive program that will begin this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. with the inauguration of the ventorrillos area in La Recova (the most traditional Christmas), where there will be eleven days of live performances, and that will end with the concert on the Night of the Three Wise Men, “Raíces y Amigos”, in the Islas Canarias Park.
From this year's planning, both leaders have highlighted that it is a living program. “We have inserted a QR that will be constantly updated to inform the population of schedules, street closures, parking, routes of the visits of the Three Wise Men, etc.”, they said.
And it is that, precisely, one of the novelties of this year is that Their Majesties from the East and their entourage, will tour each of the neighborhoods on the morning of January 5, before joining the traditional Cavalcade, which in this edition, will run from Puerto Naos to the Islas Canarias Park
“We present a very special program, full of activities and events in whose elaboration all the areas of the City Council are involved” said the mayor, Yonathan de León, who took the opportunity to invite all residents and merchants to participate and support Christmas activities and has advanced that “we are conditioning the Ginory site for the great Christmas fair that we will present in the coming days and that we are sure will be a great success that citizens and tourists who come to the capital will enjoy, since we are in the middle of the cruise season”.
For his part, Echedey Eugenio said that “our fundamental objective is to fill Arrecife with people, that the streets of the capital, both in the center and in each of the neighborhoods, be places of meeting and happiness, in which things happen, the commerce of our city, the economy is boosted and employment is generated”.
In addition to the tour that Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar will make neighborhood by neighborhood, Eugenio has highlighted other important novelties: “Arrecife is a city that must look at the sea, so this year we are going to project a video mapping on a sheet of water, which I hope everyone enjoys”.
Likewise, the neighborhoods will also have the visit of Santa Claus through the activity “Noel's dressing room”, and more than 50 workshops will be held in the socio-cultural centers and squares of the capital.
Other very important activities to take into account are: the inauguration of the Nativity Scene in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park (Friday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m.), opening in that same space of the Christmas Market (December 18 at 10:00 a.m.) and the inauguration of the Sand Nativity Scene on Reducto Beach (December 18 at 8:00 p.m.).
Music will also have a leading role. “We will have the Carousel of Wishes with artists from the island, the Kings concert, the Pavón show, school choirs, DJ sessions and many, many performances”, informed the Councilor for Festivities after thanking the Cabildo de Lanzarote for the incorporation into the capital program of the VI Isla Christmas (traditional music, dance and song).
The mayor and the councilor have encouraged the population to stay in Arrecife and actively participate in each and every one of the events organized by all the areas of the City Council, coordinated by the Department of Festivities.
