The Arrecife City Council premieres in the Theme Park, opposite the Lanzarote Island Council headquarters, the first public terrace in Lanzarote for family leisure.

The mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, held a press conference this Thursday morning in this Theme Park, where he announced that the council, through various departments, will premiere this Thursday "the first outdoor public terrace in Lanzarote intended for the leisure of all families". This space will have a zone of tropical umbrellas, tables and stools, in the vicinity of the playground and the restrooms.

Following this premiere and inauguration of the new public terrace, the Department of Commerce and Tourism, led by Eli Merino, has launched several revitalization actions to encourage greater use of this public space. The council proposes to install in the vicinity of this public terrace a series of food trucks, regulated by bases and public tender called by the City Council for this purpose of revitalizing the Arrecife Theme Park area.

The premiere of this terrace is part of a global strategy launched to turn Arrecife into "the capital of shopping, leisure and events", where families from Lanzarote will have a public space in a large urban park for their family recreation and culinary tastings.

A new administrative concession from the Coastal Authority

During his speech, the mayor detailed the administrative details behind the new concession from the Coastal Authority to use these lands. Among them, the transfer of competencies in coastal matters from the central government to the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, and the recent approval by the Directorate General of Coastal and Maritime Spatial Management of the Canary Islands of the new concession to the Arrecife City Council over these lands. Meanwhile, the council has accused the PSOE of losing the administrative concession over these lands in 2018.

Currently, the City Council has the concession over these lands again and has a technical project for the creation of a green lung, with leisure areas and zones for sports, children, outdoor cinema, dog park, etc. This project was detailed by La Voz last April.

Renovations of existing facilities

Throughout this time, the City Council, through the Department of Works, launched the adaptation, repair, and maintenance works of this park. These actions will continue in the coming months. Among them, the comprehensive rehabilitation of the bathrooms (abandoned for years) and better access to the surroundings of the park's central square are contemplated, as well as the work carried out by the Department of Parks and Gardens, which has allowed the renovation and expansion of the playground, with more adapted attractions for children, and the recovery of the fountain, which is operational.
