The Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Education led by Abigail González, has proceeded to pay the aid to cover expenses for travel to university students in the municipality, or who are studying intermediate and higher-level training cycles.

Aid corresponding to the 2023 financial year, which "amounts to 250,000 euros", and from which "a total of 570 students" registered in the island's capital have benefited, who have received "438 euros and 56 cents" each.

Yonathan de León highlights “we will continue to support the families of Arrecife in the costs of having a son or daughter studying outside the island. We have the commitment, from the Government group, to increase the economic amounts for these aids throughout this new mandate. Promoting the study of our population is among my priorities as first mayor.”

For her part, Abigail González announces that the City Council, through the Department of Education, is already working on the call for the 2024 financial year. “We are trying to speed up the procedure because we are aware of the economic effort that families make so that their sons and daughters can pursue higher studies that we do not have on the island. For this reason, we want to increase the amount and that is our line of work for the next year and the following ones.”
