The Arrecife City Council has obtained the money committed by the central government for the Urban Renewal Areas (ARU) of Titerroy and Valterra, in Arrecife. The Councilor for Housing, Rafael Juan González, has assured that "thanks to the effort, work and negotiations" carried out by both the City Council and the Government of the Canary Islands, this item has been achieved, after the contracts for drafting the execution projects for these works were signed on April 24.

The councilor has indicated that the process is "being processed normally", although he has acknowledged that "there will be a delay in the execution of the ARU, as a result of the delay in the final approval of the General State Budgets."

The Councilor for Housing has also pointed out that in a meeting with the ARU monitoring commission, the technicians from the company drafting the project, Ingenyarq Siglo XXI, explained the characteristics of each of the projects. Details that, on the other hand, will be disclosed to the residents in a meeting that will take place this Thursday at 5:00 p.m. for those affected in Titerroy, and in another that will be held on Friday at 5:00 p.m. for the residents of Valterra. Both meetings will be held in the plenary hall of the City Council.

"The most important thing is that the requests of the residents have been met and the execution projects completely respect the physiognomy of the neighborhoods so that the intervention is not aggressive," the councilor assured.

Thus, once the projects have been drafted, the next step will be the hiring of the Management and Works Management Office, which the councilor responsible for Housing hopes will be "fully operational in the month of September."

The monitoring table for the Urban Renewal Areas of Valterra and Titerroy is composed of the Councilor for Housing of the Arrecife City Council, Rafael Juan González, and the representatives of the different political groups of the City Council, as well as the island director of the General State Administration, María Dolores Luzardo, representing the central Executive, and the presidents of the neighborhood associations of the affected neighborhoods.

In total, 167 homes will benefit from the agreement signed in the Canary Islands-State Bilateral Housing Commission 2009-2012, which contemplates an investment of 20 million euros over four years in these two neighborhoods of the capital.
