The Department of Social Welfare of the Arrecife City Council, led by Maite Corujo, launches the Psychological Care Service for Minors, an innovative program designed to address the emotional and psychological needs of children and adolescents in situations of social and/or family vulnerability in the municipality.

In response to the "growing demand and the scarcity of available services", this project's main objective is to "reduce the psychological impact on minors, as well as enhance their personal resources to facilitate an adequate emotional adjustment and their correct social integration".

"This service is a necessary and appropriate response to the growing demands for psychological support for our most vulnerable minors," emphasizes Corujo, who stresses that "we are committed to providing a psychologically healthy environment for our children and young people, promoting their personal and social well-being."

The service also focuses on four specific objectives: psychological assessment, in which, through a specific protocol, the psychological conditions of each minor will be determined; psychological intervention to improve the conditions of minors and their primary caregivers, using specific protocols for each symptomatology; advice and guidance to guide the agents involved in the development of minors, including families, educational centers, and family educators; and a traveling coordination that will be assumed by family educators.

The Psychological Care Service for Minors will be carried out in the dependencies of the Municipal Social Services of the Arrecife City Council, as well as in other municipal dependencies as necessary. In addition, individual and group interventions will be offered, adapted to the diverse needs and problems of minors and their families.

The referral of minors to the service will be made only through the Municipal Team Specialized in Child and Family Care (EMEIF), with the indispensable condition of having an open file in said service.
