The Technical Office of the Arrecife City Council has issued a favorable report for the construction of 46 new officially protected homes (VPO) at number 40 Triana Street. This project represents a key step within the municipal strategy to expand the social housing supply in the capital.

This advance is part of the agreement signed between the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI) and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, published in February in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, by which the island institution cedes a plot of 1,610 square meters on Triana street in order to integrate it into the Program to aid the construction of social rental housing in energy-efficient buildings.

The municipal file has passed all necessary technical and legal phases, including authorization from the State Air Safety Agency (AESA), as it is an area affected by aeronautical easements linked to the César Manrique–Lanzarote airport. AESA has confirmed that the planned building, with three floors and 45 underground parking spaces, complies with the established height limits and safety conditions.

They have a favorable urban planning report

The municipal architect has issued a favorable urban planning report, concluding that the building is fully compatible with the current General Urban Planning Plan, and that the project meets the building parameters, alignments, parking, and health requirements for this consolidated urban land.

The Councilor for Urban Planning, Maciot Cabrera, has highlighted the importance of the project and the technical work carried out in recent months, stating that "this is a decisive step in the biggest commitment to social housing that Arrecife has seen in decades. The city needs decent and affordable homes, and from the Technical Office we are accelerating all projects that allow us to meet that real need of our families."

Cabrera also emphasizes that the project has required intense administrative coordination. "It has been many months of work, technical requirements, sectoral reports, and cooperation between administrations. The result is a solid, safe project that is completely in line with planning. We are demonstrating that we are capable of unblocking and launching major public housing initiatives."

The councilor also emphasized that this action is only part of the municipal effort to expand the public housing stock. "We are working to ensure that Arrecife leaves behind years of paralysis. This new development of 46 homes in Triana is added to other initiatives that will soon see the light of day. The objective is clear: more housing for more residents and under better conditions," he said.

Cabrera has reiterated that the construction of these homes is possible thanks to the cooperation between the City Council, the ICAVI, and the Cabildo de Lanzarote. The plot, located between Triana, Paraguay, and Portugal streets, will be entirely dedicated to public housing under a social rental scheme, in a building designed to meet high energy efficiency standards.
