The Arrecife City Council has distributed about 600 bags of sand in the neighborhoods of the capital, in view of the heavy rain alert this weekend, to "collaborate with the neighbors and try to minimize the damage caused by possible floods."
The distribution has been carried out in the areas most prone to flooding, such as Manolo Millares street, at the exit of Arrecife, or Hermanos Álvarez Quintero street, in the Titerroy neighborhood.
“The objective is to try to avoid flooding in the houses of our neighbors, that is why, since the alert was activated, we started working to reach the maximum number of citizens”, explained the Councilor for Roads and Works, Roberto Herbón.
In addition, the Arrecife City Council plans to continue distributing sandbags during the afternoon of this Friday, as well as on Saturday morning, in the areas where floods are usually recorded in the capital.
It should be remembered that the Arrecife City Council decreed this Friday the closure of municipal facilities and the suspension of outdoor activities from 12:00 noon this Saturday, September 24.
