The Arrecife City Council has planned, during this 2026, to tender the installation of a ramp walkway on El Cable beach that allows accessibility to the water area.
The Municipal Government, led by Mayor Yonathan de León, has elaborated during this part of the mandate the technical project that allows the execution of that accessible area, in the vicinity of the Insular Center of Nautical Sports. The technical project is in Costas and the City Council, through the Department of Beaches, has received communication from the General Directorate of Coasts and Management of the Canarian maritime space which is processing it and shortly the mandatory public exhibition announcement will be published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands to approve the concession in this stretch of the conejero litoral. Due to the orography of this coastal enclave, the walkway will allow bathing in the intertidal zone both at low tide and high tide.
The Department of Beaches and Environment, directed by councilwoman Davinia Déniz, has planned the next tender for this work, in the second half of this year, after receiving authorization from Costas, necessary for the execution of these works.
By unanimity of the Municipal Corporation, in its session last November, Costas was requested the administrative concession that allows bidding for the works within the powerful investment plan that the Municipal Government led by Yonathan de León has for the 2026/2027 period.
Davinia Déniz has detailed that from her Department a plan has been promoted to improve accessibility on the beaches of the entire municipal district of Arrecife. The action on El Cable beach is part of these actions, after recently concluding the improvement of accessibility on La Arena beach, in the vicinity of San José Castle, with an investment that has been around half a million euros, including the renovation of a section of the pedestrian promenade between San José Castle and the Los Mármoles area.

Yonathan de León has stressed that the execution of this work in this residential nucleus of Arrecife, in the vicinity of the Nautical Center, "is part of the planning to relaunch the bay of Arrecife as a preferred nautical destination in the Canary Islands", whose strategy is embodied in a working document that was recently presented to social agents in a joint project of the Arrecife City Council and the Society for the Foreign Promotion of Lanzarote- Turismo Lanzarote.
Besides this upcoming publication in the BOC for this walkway in El Cable, Costas currently has in public exhibition the request of the Arrecife City Council for the integral transformation of the Theme Park, in the vicinity of El Reducto beach, with an investment close to 10 million euros.
