The Festivals Department of Arrecife City Council has opened the deadline for carnival groups to present their allegory proposals for the 2027 Carnival, in an initiative that, since its implementation, has represented a novel and participatory way of building the identity of the festivities.
This procedure, promoted by the deputy mayor and councillor of Fiestas, Echedey Eugenio, has allowed in recent years to directly involve the groups in the definition of the theme of one of the city's most important celebrations.
Proposals may be sent until next April 13, 2026 to the email address enabled by the Department, which has been communicated directly to the different carnival groups.
Once all the allegories have been collected, a voting process will be opened through the Arrecife City Council website, where the citizens themselves will choose the final theme of the 2027 Carnival.
“We continue betting on a carnival model built among everyone, where the groups have a voice from the beginning. The response in these years has been very positive and shows that this way of working enriches the final result”, affirms Echedey Eugenio.
Likewise, the councilor has highlighted that “citizen participation in the subsequent voting phase further reinforces that sense of belonging, making the carnival truly for everyone”.
