The mayor of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, and the Councilor for Tourism, Rafael Juan González, inaugurated this morning the tourist train service that will run through the most emblematic places of the capital from this Thursday.
The presentation, which took place on the Avenida Marítima, was also attended by the director of City Sightseeing Spain, Isaac Flores, who announced that to celebrate this new incorporation to the global network of the Spanish multinational, the company has organized three open days (from today Thursday to Saturday, April 22) so that residents and visitors can ride the tourist train for free.
From this Thursday, two train lines will show tourists the most iconic places in the city, such as the castles of San Gabriel and San José, Playa del Reducto or Charco and the Church of San Ginés.
Through a 45-minute tour, passengers will be able to get a first impression of the island's capital. Thanks to its seven stops and its hop on hop off system, users can get on and off the tourist train as many times as they wish during the validity of the ticket. Travelers will also receive interesting comments via audio guide in seven languages.
As the mayor of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, has stressed, "the development of the service is designed to invite you to leave the rental vehicle or the cruise behind and enjoy the advantages of stress-free transport, which runs through one of the most representative environments of Arrecife".
For his part, the Councilor for Tourism of the Arrecife City Council, Rafael Juan González, has expressed his satisfaction with the entry into operation of the trains, highlighting that "it adds a plus of quality to the tourist offer of Arrecife, also giving tourists the possibility not only to enjoy the marina area, which is undoubtedly the most beautiful in our city, but also to access other tourist and culturally interesting points such as the El Salinero Theater, the island Library or the Cabildo de Lanzarote building".
With the launch of the service, Arrecife becomes the fourteenth destination of the multinational city tours in Spain.
Thus, as part of the City Sightseeing network, the company will promote tourism in Arrecife at the main promotional fairs in the sector, starting with the ATM (Arabian Travel Market) Dubai, which is held from April 24 to 27. Already in the last edition of Fitur, the company's stand hosted the presentation of the capital of Lanzarote in Madrid.
The arrival in Arrecife represents for City Sightseeing a good opportunity to develop a different mode of transport to the panoramic and double-decker tourist bus that has popularized it around the world.
The tourist train joins the panoramic minibuses, boat trips, guided walking tours and other means of mobility that the company has been using in more than 100 destinations on five continents to show travelers all these cities from a different point of view. On the other hand, with the capital of Lanzarote, the company's already extensive network in cities with cruise ports is increased.
Thus, during the presentation, the director of City Sightseeing Spain, Isaac Flores, declared: "We are very excited about the launch of this new operation that represents our third destination in the Canary Islands. We have high hopes that the Arrecife tourist train will soon become part of the urban landscape of this beautiful city, just as it happens with our buses in more than 100 cities around the world. This will allow us, on the one hand, to show Arrecife to its visitors, and on the other, to boost local tourism by generating a flow of visitors in the area of influence of the different stops".
