The Department of Social Welfare of the Arrecife City Council announces the acquisition of a property to house a Day Center for the Elderly for Family Respite, through an open competition. This project, which responds to the growing demand for support for families and care for the elderly in the municipality, will provide a safe and accessible space for their well-being.

According to Councilor Maite Corujo, “with this center we are taking a decisive step towards the creation of a space where our elders can receive specialized care and attention during the day, allowing families to have some respite time without neglecting the well-being of their loved ones.”

The councilor adds that "this service is not only designed to improve the quality of life of the elderly, but also to offer important support to caregiving families, who often need support to continue their work."

The property, which will be acquired under criteria of accessibility, conservation and functionality, must meet a series of requirements, such as having a minimum of 300 square meters of usable area, guaranteeing direct accessibility from the public road and being located in an area outside the industrial area. These characteristics ensure that the space is suitable for use as a day center, promoting a comfortable and suitable environment for family respite activities.

With a maximum budget of 450,000 euros, which includes acquisition costs, taxes, notary fees and registration, the process of awarding this contract is framed within the principles of transparency, competition and efficiency.

The acquisition of the property follows the guidelines established in the Law on the Heritage of Public Administrations, thus promoting efficient use of public resources.

“We are committed to providing Arrecife with infrastructure that guarantees adequate and dignified care for our elders, and this day center is a testament to that,” Corujo points out. “We want families to know that they have a nearby and quality resource that will allow them to feel supported in caring for their elders.”
