After Daisy Villalba's departure from the Cabildo of Lanzarote as a councilor of Nueva Canarias, Armando Santana will be the one to take the minutes as a councilor and will join the mixed group composed of Óscar Noda from UPY and Óscar Pérez from Vox.
The new councilor will presumably enter on September 27, when the plenary session of the Island Council takes place. "I am going to adapt to the discipline of the electoral coalition with which I was elected and join the mixed group," Santana explained in an interview on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero's Buenos Días Lanzarote.
For some months now, once it was known that Villalba had to leave the minutes, Santana has stated that his party turned its back on him but others were interested in knowing how he was. "I thank Coalición Canaria and the Partido Popular for having worried, at least, about knowing my situation," he comments.
"It was the party's own organization that told me in a press conference that I define as a 'bad taste joke', that I do not represent them. Of course I do not represent them because I left the party of militancy a little over a year ago, but there is a link with the electoral coalition," Santana declares.
Regarding his departure from Nueva Canarias, the politician affirms that he has been "extremely generous" with the political formation not only in the farewell letter but also "in any place where they have called me." Regarding the figure of Óscar Noda, he points out that he has also been exquisite with him, "since I came to reproach some of my former colleagues for trying to deceive public opinion by saying that the results obtained were thanks to them and not due to Noda's merit."
In addition, he criticizes the bad relations that Nueva Canarias has had and has with coalitions in islands such as Fuerteventura or Gran Canaria and in Lanzarote. "Historically, for ten years, all the coalitions that Nueva Canarias has made have gone badly," he concludes.
