Argana Alta, the largest neighborhood by population in Lanzarote, has opened this weekend in August the "largest playground and outdoor gym on the island." This has been assured by the Arrecife City Council in a statement.
An investment of over 400,000 euros has allowed the Arrecife City Council, presided over by Mayor Yonathan de León, to allocate these new public equipment areas in the largest population neighborhood of the municipality for families of Argana.
The creation of this modern playground and bio-healthy area has been built on a public plot on Tajaraste Street, in the Argana Alta neighborhood, in Arrecife, with an area of approximately 1,000 square meters.
Until now, "in Arrecife there were no leisure areas where thematic areas are combined, according to the ages of the children, shaded areas (with pergolas and canvas sails, and trees) a playground and a bio-healthy area, with street furniture", the City Council has stated.
This park, highly anticipated by the families of Argana Alta, has come into operation during this weekend with a day of children's dynamization promoted by the mayor's office and the Parks and Gardens Area, under the direction of councilor Roberto Herbón.
This new public equipment area, equipped with a fenced enclosure for its safety, is on Tajaraste Street, a neuralgic road in the Argana Alta neighborhood.
The work was launched in the previous term, with Mayor Astrid Pérez, and the awarding and supervision has been carried out by the Cabildo of Lanzarote through the Area of Public Works and Project Planning, under the direction of the vice president and councilor Jacobo Medina.
Recently, the Arrecife City Council has received the facilities and Mayor Yonathan de León has made possible its opening and enjoyment by the families of the municipality.
A gym on the street
Next to the large playground, Arrecife has opened its third bio-healthy park, known as Gym Street, bio-healthy machines for the elderly. Both parks are accessible.
This investment, according to the capital city's mayor, will be joined in this new term in the Municipal Plan to modernize all the playgrounds in all the neighborhoods of Arrecife. The City Council has already carried out the bidding and is in the final phase to be able to undertake the facilities for children's leisure, "betting on inclusive and accessible parks".
During the dynamization day of this great park of Argana, held in the afternoon, the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, the deputy mayor, Echedey Eugenio, the councilor of Parks and Gardens, and Playgrounds, Roberto Herbón, and the vice president of the Cabildo and councilor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, were present.
Arón, David, Dereck, Keyler and Nayra Isabel have been the first boys and girls from Argana Alta to open this new large playground.
