The Arrecife City Council has proceeded this Wednesday to wall up an occupied house on Democracia Street, although, for this, it needed the presence of the National Police. And it is that, as confirmed by the Councilor for Roads and Works, Roberto Herbón, four squatters who were inside had to be evicted.
Herbón explained that the walling has been carried out after complaints from neighbors, who had even reported that the squatters had "taken water from a tank" and that "they had taken electricity." "The neighbors were very scared and worried," said the mayor.
After the neighbors' complaints, the Councilor for Roads and Works pointed out that the first thing that was done was to try to contact the property, but it was not possible to locate it. "In this case it was a company that had its headquarters in Tías, a real estate company, but it seems that it no longer exists," he specified.
Thus, the City Council has taken charge of the walling, although for this it has been necessary to evict the squatters who were inside. And it is that, although Roberto Herbón has stated that the Police already went to the house this week to inform them that this Wednesday they should vacate it, today they have found two men and two women inside. Therefore, the National Police had to intervene so that they would leave the property.
