The ADEPSI Group inaugurates its new headquarters in Lanzarote, strengthening its joint work with the Island Council of Lanzarote in the challenge of moving towards a more accessible and inclusive island.

After more than 43 years committed to defending the rights and well-being of people with disabilities, ADEPSI is consolidating specialized training and employment services, behavioral support, and support for the exercise of legal capacity, and socio-legal information and advice on the island of Lanzarote, which benefit and support a hundred people and families from Lanzarote each year.

ADEPSI's presence on the island of Lanzarote dates back to 2008, with the first "guardianship" assumed by the ADEPSI Canary Islands Support Foundation on the island, responding to an essential and growing social sphere of demand due to the complexity of society over the years, which has led to Fucadepsi growing progressively and significantly in the number of curatorships.

Likewise, its Specialized Legal-Social Information and Advisory Service, with the collaboration of the island corporation, has been consolidated since 2022 as a leading resource in terms of rights, resources, and support in the exercise of legal capacity for people with disabilities and/or dependency.

In 2016, Asociación ADEPSI began a progressive implementation of specialized programs and services, including information and advice services, Supported Employment, and in 2022, the Specialized Behavior Support Service (SAEC) began, all in collaboration with the Honorable Cabildo de Lanzarote.

During the inauguration ceremony, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the value of the work that ADEPSI has been developing on the island: "I want to thank, on behalf of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, ADEPSI, its president, all its professional team and, very especially, those who are the reason for all this effort: people with disabilities and their families. Their constant, committed and close work makes inclusion a reality on our island and allows each person to develop their life project with dignity and autonomy."

Betancort added that: "This new headquarters that is being inaugurated today represents a new stage, a space that reinforces the network of support, the closeness with families, and the joint work between administrations and social entities. Because real inclusion is a collective responsibility, and only together can we ensure that each person in Lanzarote and La Graciosa has the opportunity to develop their life project, whatever their starting point."

The new headquarters represents a decisive step in consolidating ADEPSI's work in Lanzarote, reinforcing its capacity for action and contributing directly to the Island Strategy for Accessibility and Inclusion, promoted by the Cabildo, collaborating to guarantee that social and labor inclusion, the exercise of rights, and professional support are a reality close to the new demands of citizens. The Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Marci Acuña, highlighted that "with this new headquarters we are taking a further step in Lanzarote's commitment to the care of people with disabilities and their families. We are talking about a space that multiplies resources and brings the attention, support and professionalism of ADEPSI closer to those who need it most." Acuña emphasized that "cooperation between administrations and entities such as ADEPSI is the best guarantee that inclusion and accessibility do not remain mere words, but become tangible realities for each person. From the Cabildo we will continue to bet on strengthening this network of support that reinforces dignity, autonomy and equal opportunities in Lanzarote and La Graciosa."
