The Titerroy bus stop continues to be a topic of discussion. The residents of the neighborhood have collected 600 signatures to protest the bar that now replaces the bench, which was removed by order of the mayor, Manolo Fajardo Feo. The association has demanded that the City Council "find a better solution", as they are not convinced by the new bar that has been installed for users to sit and wait for the bus.
In a statement, which begins by saying "Titerroy marquee at the whim of the mayor", the association has assured that Manolo Fajardo Feo "does not even receive the elderly residents, who are the most affected". The group has insisted that, "according to City Council workers", the bar as a bench at the bus stop will remain definitively as seen in the photograph.
This measure, which they consider to be "an explicit order from the mayor", they believe is "shameful". And it is that from the association they cannot understand why the bench was removed from the stop, only because of "the complaint of a neighbor".
The peculiar history of this stop began to be talked about months ago. At the end of August, the Councilor for Transportation of the City Council, Víctor Sanginés, explained that the decision to remove the bench was made by the mayor, due to the complaints of "a neighbor". "I would have preferred to leave it, but it is not about who decided it. Cándido Reguera also decided to remove it and when I took over the area I put it back, but now it has been removed again," Sanginés explained.
The Councilor for Transportation assured that what was going to be done was "find a new location for the stop" which, according to what he said on August 22, was going to be "moved in the next few days", "so that people who are waiting for the bus do so in the minimum conditions and do so sitting down".
Days later, the mayor, Manolo Farjado Feo, assured that in reality the intention when removing the bench was to replace it with another system. "In a lot of stops all over the world there are bars on the marquee, which serve to rest and lean on while waiting", he pointed out, explaining that they intended to adopt this same formula.
The solution given by the City Council has not convinced the residents, since they have collected 600 signatures against this bar that acts as a seat at this bus stop.
