The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has personally congratulated the centenarian grandmother from Valterra, María Pabón Quijano, who has turned 103 years old. The family of this cheerful centenarian had contacted the mayor of Lanzarote's capital so that he could personally meet Doña María and join them in this family celebration.

As the mayor shared on his social media, "this family residing in the Valterra neighborhood had contacted me to accompany them in this special celebration for doña María. She recently turned 103 years old, and on her birthday, I was traveling outside of Lanzarote. This family, originally from Venezuela, who has lived among us for almost two decades, wished for me to meet the family matriarch and be with them on this very special celebration."

The mayor of Arrecife details that he committed "to visit them and get to know Doña María up close, who was born 103 years ago in Colombia and moved to Venezuela at a very young age, where she founded her family. Her descendants wanted her to live in Arrecife, where they offer her love and companionship since her move to Lanzarote. They told me that she has always had good health and family genetics strengthen them in their long and healthy longevity”.

During his recent visit to doña María's family home, the mayor gifted her a chocolate cake and a huge bouquet of flowers with a sign that read "happy 103rd birthday." The family, as seen on social media, appreciated this grand gesture from the mayor and his visit, during which he was able to meet doña María, one of the eight centenarian grandmothers residing in the capital of Lanzarote.

Mayor Yonathan de León expressed his desire to return to this family home and accompany the cheerful Doña Marí Pabón in 2026, when she will turn 104 years old. Health and good genetics have accompanied her through more than ten decades of life.
